Jack McDonald, P.E.

Jack McDonald founded John M. McDonald Engineering, P.C. in 1990 after almost 20 years of civil engineering work at the New York State Department of Transportation and the Town of Rotterdam. Jack is the principal engineer of all projects supervising up to 20 engineers and other staff. Specialize in working directly with many municipalities in the upstate New York area to provide comprehensive engineering services and technical assistance for our municipal clients, in such areas as facility planning, park design, project administration, water, wastewater, stormwater hydraulics, traffic studies, highway engineering, bridge design, zoning and development review, long-term planning and grant procurement. Jack received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University at Buffalo. Jack is an active member of the Schenectady Downtown Improvement Corporation. In his spare time, Jack enjoys restoring historic buildings in the City of Schenectady and spending time with his family.

Tom Bates, P.E.

Tom joined McDonald Engineering in 1991, and has over 30 years of engineering experience. Tom received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University. Tom is a member of AWWA and ACI. Tom's expertise includes slow sand filtration design, water filtration plant design, stormwater system analysis and design, dam design, structural design, preparation of bid specifications and drawings, project management and construction engineering inspection for a broad spectrum of municipal projects. In his spare time, Tom enjoys biking and spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Doug Cole, P.E.

Doug joined the McDonald Engineering team in 1992 after graduation from Rutgers University with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Doug's expertise includes site design, stormwater design, road design, water system design and wastewater pumping and treatment design. Doug is an active member of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers where he serves as the 1st Vice President for the Capital District Section, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Doug also is an active member with the Rotterdam Elks, a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, a classic cars enthusiast, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Jeff Trzeciak, P.E.

Jeff began his civil engineering career at McDonald Engineering in 1995 after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Jeff's areas of design expertise include hydrologic analysis, site survey, site planning, water distribution, stormwater management and drainage improvements, slope stabilization, streets and roads, public swimming pool design and improvements. Jeff is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and YMCA Y-Guides and enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and coaching Little League.

Walter Lippmann, P.E.

Walt joined McDonald Engineering in 1998 after graduating from Roger Williams University with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. Walt specializes in site planning, water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater management and drainage improvements, and road design. Walt is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In his free time, Walt is a football official in the Capital District and is an avid golfer. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and young son.

Jenny Moon, P.E.

Jenny joined the McDonald Engineering team after graduating from Union College in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Jenny specializes in site design, water distribution and treatment, stormwater design and improvements, and structural design. Jenny is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers where she has served as the Younger Member Chairperson for the Mohawk-Hudson Section, and currently serves as the Section's secretary. Jenny is also the Director of the Educating Girls for Engineering (EDGE) Program at Union College, held every summer to encourage girls to study science and engineering. In addition, she is a member of the Village of Scotia Planning Board and former member of the Village Traffic Safety Committee. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys running, crafts and spending time with her husband and young son.

Peter Holland, EIT

Pete started his civil engineering career at McDonald Engineering after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. He specializes in water systems, site design, and structural design. In his spare time, Pete enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife and young son.

Steve started his civil engineering career at McDonald Engineering after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. He specializes in wastewater systems, site design, and structural design. In his spare time, Steve is a football official in the Capital District and enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
